Ashley and her new hubby, Rob, were married at the State House earlier this year accompanied by an unforgettable reception at the Indianapolis Arts Garden. Being that our stunning bride loves fall-time, she kicked off the season with a wedding full of bold colors, delicious food and lots of love.

Ashley’s Theme

It is almost universally known that you should not wear white to a wedding. Unless, of course, you’re the bride. Our girl Ashley took this tradition to a whole new level for her wedding to avoid any competition with her elegant wedding gown by eliminating white in her wedding colors. Instead, she opted for vivid floral arrangements and decor. To mellow out the striking hues of red and burgundy, she incorporated dusty rose, mauve and ivory in place of stark white. The groomsmen were dressed to the nines in navy blue and Ashley’s bride tribe were adorned in burgundy.

For wedding far, our autumn-loving bride catered Ritz Charles in, feeding her guests with stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and asparagus (yum!). To complement the main dish, Ashley also incorporated bacon-wrapped dates and flatbreads with seasoned meat. Concluding the meal, guests enjoyed chocolate chip cake with brown sugar in the middle, buttercream and a layer of German chocolate.

Special Touches

Neither Ashley or Rob prefer being the center of attention so to lighten the mood, they asked one of her brother’s friends to be the officiant to help them feel more comfortable. Before the ceremony, Ashley and Rob did a first look after reading their vowels back-to-back by themselves. As expected, when Rob turned around, he was completely enamored by Ashley’s dress… especially with that gorgeous train! Ashley was both relieved and ecstatic to see her soon-to-be husband who had her smiling the entire evening.

Favorite Moments

Ashley loved everything about her wedding. Quote: “Literally, everything”. Small things went wrong that were completely unnoticed because of how special the day was. One of her favorite parts was sitting down to enjoy the food next to her new hubby, both in agreement that today was about them and they may not make it around to everyone.

About the Dress

Ashley was living in Chicago and planning to move to Indianapolis when she discovered Blue House Bridal through friends living in the area. She was having a hard time finding “the one” until meeting with Blue House owner, Brittany Overbeck, who worked with her to discover the lacy dress of her dreams.

Ashley fell in love with how comfortable her Essense of Australia dress was while still maintaining her vision of lots of lace and a detailed back. To her surprise (and Rob’s at the wedding), she was obsessed with the extended train in the back. Plus, the gown shimmers a little which puts just about any bride over-the-edge, in love with their dress.

Advice to Current Brides

Ashley’s advice is the same advice you will hear us preach about frequently: have a vision for what you want. Our decisive bride recalls going dress shopping with a friend who had no vision or idea of what she wanted which wreaked havoc on her wedding gown dress experience. She (and we) recommend having at least 3-4 features you definitely want on your dress.

For the wedding, Ashley recommends hiring a day-of coordinator to ease your mind about the details on the big day. Ashley worked with Emily Foster to plan and coordinate the day while also working with her to decide on other vendors.

Thank you so much Ashley for your advice and inspiration. We couldn’t have planned a better wedding 💙
